Direct Objects Answer Who? or What? lo – el libro, el perro, el anillo, el paraguas la – la guitarra, la plata, la televisión, la chica los – los ojos, los aretes, los pantalones, los tíos las – las pulseras, las tortas, las fotos, las bolas What do I see? I see it. Lo veo. What do you buy? You buy it/them. Las compras. Who do they take care of? They take care of her. La cuidan.

Indirect Objects Answer To whom? To what? For whom? For what? Me – to/for me Nos – to/for us Te – to/for you Le – to/for him, to/for her Les – to/for them, to/for Usted to/for Ustedes For whom do you buy the gift? I buy the gift for him. Le compro el regalo. OR A él, le compro el regalo. To whom do you give the bracelet? I give the bracelet to you. Te doy la pulsera. OR A ti, te doy la pulsera.

Double Objects How do we use an indirect and a direct object at the same time? **In English, we might say “She gives it to me.” In Spanish, we would say “Ella me lo da.” Think: What noun might the direct object “lo” be replacing in this sentence? **In English, we might say “He buys it for me.” In Spanish, we would say “Él me la compra.” Think: What noun might the direct object “la” be replacing in this sentence?

Notice when we use two object pronouns….. The indirect object comes first! Me lo compran. They buy it for me. Nos las dan. They give them to us. REMEMBER: You cannot Le Lo!!!!! IF you have these two pronouns together, Le becomes Se. Se lo compro. I buy it for her. Se las das. You give them to him.

Where can we put object pronouns? 1.Before a conjugated verb. Me lo compran. They buy it for me. 2.Attached to an infinitive. Quiere comprarmelo. He wants to buy it for me. Me lo quiere comprar. 3.Attached to a present participle. Estás comprándomelo. You are buying it for me. Me lo estás comprando.

¡Jugamos! One group is the direct object and another group is the direct object pronoun. One group is the indirect object and the other group is the indirect object pronoun. One group has the subject and another group has the verb. We will rotate groups, so make sure and really participate at each table.
