3 Objective/ Objetivo Parents will be able to understand SMCA’s Study Island program and support their students in completing Blue Ribbons in each subject. 4 Study Island Promotion goal/ La meta de Study Island Study Island (SI) is a standards based, online practice program Each subject has its own work in the form of quizzes Students need to earn 80% of their Blue Ribbons Study Island es un programa de computadora que está en el Internet Cada tema tiene tarea en la forma de pruebas y preguntas Estudiantes tienen que completar 80% de los listones azules 4

5 Study Island Promotion goal/ La Meta Students must complete 80% of their Study Island (SI) in each academic subject to earn the Study Island promotion goal: – Math (CA CCSS) – ELA (CA CCSS) – Science – History Nuestros estudiantes tienen que completar 80% de los listones azules en cada tema para ganar esta meta: -Matemáticas -Inglés -Ciencias -Historia 5

6 Earning blue ribbons/ Para ganar listones azules Each topic on SI has its own passing percentage. Underneath the section titled “Passing Goal Items: Score”, students are able to see the number of questions needed and passing percentage needed to earn a blue ribbon Cada tarea en cada tema tiene su propio porcentaje. 8 Blue ribbon vs. White ribbon/ Listones azules vs. Listones blancos When students pass a SI topic, they earn a Blue Ribbon When students struggle on a SI topic, SI will automatically bump students down to a lower grade level Students must work their way back up to grade level by earning White Ribbons Cuando estudiantes pasan una tarea en Study Island, agarran un listón azul Pero, cuando tienen dificultades en una tarea, y no pueden pasar, el programa automáticamente va a bajar a su estudiante a un nivel más básico Estudiantes tienen que trabajar más para agarrar un listón blanco primero, y eventualmente un azul 8
