We did that by getting closer to our customers than anybody else…by investing time and resources to learn about their needs and find out how output was impacting their operations. Because we own our technology…we could then customize solutions and build features into our products that helped customers meet those needs and overcome their challenges.

¿Qué hemos aprendido? Seguridad Color Reducción de Costos Mejoras de Procesos Muchas Iniciativas de Impresión…Pero No Hay Un Plan Cohesivo And what do we see in all of those environments. Well, there are many common threads. But consistently, inherently…we see output being treated as an afterthought. That’s not to say that there are no output-related initiatives. In fact there are many. Especially among best-of-breed companies, there’s a concerted effort these days to take control of sprawling device fleets, simplify operations and support and reduce liability and risk. Everybody…to some degree or another…is making an effort to consolidate devices, expand the deployment of new, faster and cheaper color products and improve document accounting processes. But the outcomes are mixed. In fact, we see a lot of dollars, time and effort wasted because of one over-riding fact. Although, there are many initiatives targeted at output…there’s no central plan guiding the investment and approach to output technologies. We see heavy investment in information management, security and data integration…but little thought given to how output technology hinders or enhances those efforts. More importantly, we see device fleets continuing to grow and sprawl. One of the key metrics we look for is the device to user ratio…how many output-related devices are there for every user. The optimal number differs by industry, but on average it should be something like 7 or 8 users for every device. Surprisingly…even at organizations that are actively engaged in device consolidation…that ratio keeps going down… We see sprawling fleets of unmanaged devices. Underutilized and overutilized assets. From multiple vendors using multiple supply items supported by multiple contracts, budgets and acquisition strategies. And we see a lot of broken processes. Or to say that simply…we see a lot of paper. Lots and lots and lots of paper. Paper use in most offices is growing exponentially. People are printing their . They’re printing web pages, office documents, reports… Managing the deluge of new information is one of the primary focuses of most IT organizations…but what about the printing and copying of that information… The cost and impact is staggering. How steep is the learning curve before your employees will even be able to use them? Do they have the potential to impact other businesses processes? And perhaps most importantly, can they be used to reduce your output volumes, actually lower the number of printed pages being generated and moved through your organization? And if so, by how much? Other vendors in the hardcopy industry will pitch you their fastest MFP and tell you that the speed of the device will help improve the productivity of your workers - and the productivity of your IT support staff.
