4 Repaso: Verb Conjugation
What you already know: Infinitives are unconjugated verbs Infinitives in Spanish always end in –ar, -er, or –ir Conjugation is how you change a verb to use it with a subject. There are specific ways to conjugate based on the subject pronouns. Example: This is true for ALL verbs! Yo soy somos Tú eres sois Usted es Él es Ella es Ustedes son Ellos son Ellas son

5 Repaso: Regular Verbs p.101 A “regular” verb is one that follows standard rules when you conjugate it. To conjugate regular verbs: Drop the ending. (-ar, -er, or -ir) Add a new ending depending on who the subject is. (there are different endings for -ar, -er, and -ir verbs) Ser & Gustar are not regular verbs! habl ar com er This is called the “stem” of the verb escrib ir Let’s start with -ar verbs!

8 Regular -er & -ir Verbs p.101 Verbs that end in -er or -ir also have their own endings for when you conjugate. The process is the same as -ar verbs: To conjugate regular verbs: Drop the ending. 14 Irregular Yo forms p.103 Some –er and –ir verbs in Spanish have irregular yo forms but are regular in all the other forms. You have to memorize the yo form, but the other forms follow regular conjugation rules.
