Limitaciones de los audífonos Ambiente Desarrollo del lenguage Understanding the barriers that children face is central to creating solutions and evaluating the results. Why we are focusing on the school? Children spend much of their day in school. There are many challenges to overcome in this setting. Hearing aids still have limitations. The hearing loss distorts and limits sound processing and this is further complicated by the fact that the Hearing-impaired child has limited prior EXPERIENCE of hearing and language as a point of reference. Even hearing instruments with the most advanced technology that are adjusted properly to the user’s needs cannot guarantee an adequate signal-to-noise ratio in all situations. The environment may be a barrier:Schools present many challenges and can introduce barriers for hearing and communication. For example, important instructional activities frequently occur in the presence of high noise and distractions. Many classrooms have poor acoustics, exacerbating the problem. Overcoming these barriers is essential, as the school is central to learning and socialization. Language development is less advanced: Children with hearing loss are often less advanced in their language development. They need all the help they can get to make the right advances at an early age and to retain that advantage throughout childhood and into adulthood. Access to technology is essential: Information technology is a central part of the school curriculum. All children need access to the key learning tools. Compatibility of equipment is a further challenge for children with hearing loss, as they must have access to equipment that works well with their hearing instruments. In considering solutions for school programs, it is important challenges are overcome without creating any new problems of equipment incompatibility. In addressing each of these concerns, it is essential that the child’s practical needs are central to all decisions and solutions. Acceso a la tecnología

At the mere touch of a button, through direct frequency synchronization, it can set or reset the frequency of any multi-frequency receiver in its vicinity. This makes it an extremely flexible and versatile unit for school settings.

It “remembers” its last position. This is ideal for most applications, as teachers will usually be transmitting on the same assigned classroom channel day after day. Channel selection is simple and easy. The active channel can be switched to accommodate individual teaching situations or movement between classrooms. Change the channel by pushing the up or down arrow. Quick synchronization at the touch of a button. Synchronize by pushing the Synchronization key to transmit this new channel to receivers in the vicinity. Observe the number change on the LCD. The clear display provides verification that you are on the correct channel. The locking feature is activated and deactivated by simultaneously pressing the lower keys. The figure symbol in the display indicates locked status. Locking is a convenience feature to ensure that the transmission frequency remains active and doesn’t slip inadvertently due to random movement The practical battery status indicator enables monitoring of the reserve power status.

The microphone remains active for voice annotations during use of this versatile audio interface. The audio jack is also used for channel programming, making the unit even simpler to operate. The integrated rechargeable battery (NiMH) of Campus S can be conveniently recharged via a power supply unit. In addition, a depleted battery can be removed and replaced with a fresh one. Thanks to the recharging unit for multiple batteries, the Campus S can be operated permanently without interruption. A freshly recharged battery will provide Campus S with continuous power for about 12 hours of operation. The microphone jack is the Campus S’s port for live voice input. The microphone is for direct communication by a teacher, parent, tutor, or anyone conversing with the hearing-impaired listener. The microphone jack is hidden behind the clip for protection. Built-in cord storage permits the cord and microphone to be tucked away from sight and protected against damage.

MicroLink CI S clearly enhances speech intelligibility in these environments and is vital to a CI user’s comprehension in a noisy classroom. The state-of-the-art microchip has an improved signal to noise ratio and performs even better in noise, significantly improving the ability of the CI user to communicate. It is small, lightweight and unobtrusive. As with MLxS and ML8S, the unit can be adjusted to suit the varied needs of cochlear implant users, such as might be needed for different MAPS. All of this makes Phonak FM the new standard for cochlear implant users. For all body worn processors, there is a Microlink CI adaptor with a standard euro connector to accommodate the MLxS. The MLxS fits to the ear-level implant, the ESPrit 3G, by means of Cochlear’s shoe-like adaptor for a discreet and comfortable fit.

MicroLink CI S TelCom All Phonak FM products are compatible. Here are some examples. All Phonak transmitters work well with all Phonak receivers. Thus, the single frequency transmitters (the HandyMic and the MicroVox (not pictured), will also transmit to multi-frequency receivers. The multi-frequency Campus S will also transmit to single frequency receivers. The TelCom works with all receivers to provide flexible access to television, telephone and computer. Here we also show the SmartLink, the new multi-frequency transmitter of the future. SmartLink will also work with MLxS and ML8 S to provide: FM transmission, Bluetooth connection to cell phone; and remote control. The only requirement is that both the transmitter and the receiver use the same frequency channel. We also picture the MicroLink CI S adaptor and the MLxS BAHA, which work with Cochlear implant and BAHA devices, respectively. In order to have the benefit of multi-frequency functions, both the transmitter and the receiver must have S (synthesizer) technology. However, there are many situations where the single frequency mode is all that is needed. For example, a child may use the MLxS with the Campus S systems at school, and with the HandyMic and TelCom at home.
