Las Descripciones Físicas
I can… Understand descriptions of people when I hear or read them. Ask someone to describe himself/herself. Say and write descriptions of people when I see them. Students have had a brief introduction to a few adjectives that use forms of ser and have learned to describe peoples’ hair color, texture, and length using different forms of tener. The goal of the lesson is that students will be able to use forms of ser and tener along with new vocabulary to describe people and to identify people that are being described.

Read the Spanish paragraph and make a list of 5-8 cognates that you find.
Number your paper from 1-6 and write the correct words.

With a partner, take turns describing someone from the picture below and guessing who is being described. If you have time, after describing each person. Start asking questions in Spanish that begin with “¿Quién…?” Quien es alta…Quien es atletica? Quien tiene el pelo rojo….etc.

La nariz Today’s new words are naríz, boca, orejas, and ojos along with the common adjectives used to describe these body parts. Grande(s), pequeño(s), largo(s), de color café, negros, azules, verdes, and the word or “o”. Without stopping to discuss grammar, students should understand that pequeño changes depending on what it is describing, as does grande. I may ask students to compare what’s happens to pequeño to the work they did with adjectives on their homework.
