The Verb TENER The verb TENER, which means “to have” follows the pattern of other -er verbs.

Other Uses of TENER As you know, TENER is sometimes used where in English we use a form of the verb “to be”:

Tener hambre (To be hungry) Tener ____ años (To be ____ years old.)

Poner and Hacer This “Tema 5-A” does not include the next two verbs, “Poner and Hacer” but they are extremely important verbs to know in Spanish and are very much like Tener.

PONER, HACER Here we will learn the present tense forms of:
HACER (to do, to make) PONER (to put, to set)

PONER, HACER PONER and HACER are regular -er verbs in the present tense except for their yo forms: (yo) pongo (yo) hago
