2 Tú commands You use these types of commands when you are trying to tell a peer to do something or not to do something. There are two types: 1. Affirmative tú commands (+) 2. Negative tú commands (-) For example: Eat the vegetables! Run! Don’t eat the vegetables! Don’t run!

3 Affirmative tú Commands- How to form??
Simple… use the él, ella, Usted form of the verb in the present tense. For example, comer (to eat) Come¡Come el pan! Correr (to run) Corre ¡Corre a la escuela! Doblar (to turn) Dobla ¡Dobla a la derecha!

4 Some Irregulars to Know
If a verb has a stem change in the present tense, it keeps the stem change for commands. For example: Dormir (oue) ¡Duerme! (sleep) Empezar (eie) ¡Empieza! (begin/start) Jugar (uue) ¡Juega! (play)

7 Negative (-) tú commands
Negative tú commands are used when telling someone what not to do. To form: 1. Take the verb in the tú form (present tense) 2. Change the ending -as -es and -es -as Bailar Bailas NO BAILES Comer Comes NO COMAS

10 One last thing… Use the direct object pronouns (lo and la) when using commands. Attach the pronoun to the command for positive commands. ¡Come la pizza!  ¡Cómela! ¡Come el pan!  ¡Cómelo! Place the pronoun before the command for negative commands. ¡No comas la pizza!  ¡No la comas! ¡No comas el pan!  ¡No lo comas!
