6 Notes: Gustar vs. Encantar
Gustar is a verb. It means “to like” Encantar is a verb. It means “to love” 3. In order to say what one likes or loves, follow these simple rules: a. if there is a noun in the sentence, the verb (gusta/gustan, encanta/encantan) must agree in number with that noun. b. if there is a verb (infinitive) in the sentence, always use the singular form of the verb (gusta/encanta) How to begin your answers: a. In order to begin your answer correctly, find out the subject of the sentence yo= A mi, me... Ud.= A Ud., le Uds.= A Uds., les... tú= A ti, te... 8 APUNTES: Ser vs. Estar pág. 1/4 OBJECTIVE: TLW differentiate the two verbs “to be” in the target language. TLW also analyze and demonstrate how to use these verbs correctly in short sentences. Ser and Estar are two very important verbs in Spanish. They both mean “to be.” Other forms of the verb “to be” include: am, is, are, was, were. In order to know which verb to use, we have to look at what the sentence is trying to tell us. Is it telling a physical description? Is it telling where someone is located? Foreign language study enhances listening skills and memory. The study of a foreign tongue (language) improves your skills in your native language.
