3
INTRODUCTION A phase can be a term easy as solid, liquid or gas, for example a glass with ice and water this present a phase, but the term is used more generally for description the two or more phases for example oil with water and other combinations.
4
THE BASIC PHASE DIAGRAM Diagrams of phase a diagram of phase allow working the phases are present an any given pressure and temperature.
5
SOLID LIQUID When we have a solid a constant pressure, the temperature increase the solid will pass a liquid state this is called fusion, but the inverse process of liquid a solid is called congelation.
6
LIQUID GASEOUS the liquid a gaseous state is when we increase the temperature a constant pressure is called evaporation and its inverse process when decrease its temperature the gas is converted in liquid is called condensation.
7
SOLID GASEOUS solid pass a an gaseous state is when we decrease the pressure and increase a temperature that process is called sublimation and inverse process is called deposition.
8
CRITICAL POINT : this point happens when coexist two matter states, the liquid and gaseous, means it has properties of both liquid state and the gaseous state.
9
TRIPLE POINT this happens when coexist the three matter states, solid, liquid and gaseous.
10
Phase diagrams are easiest water and carbon dioxide because its regions, critical point y triple point are very similar. Phase diagram of water
