4 EL verbo “SER” What kind of verb is ser?
It is an irregular verb, which means it does not follow the regular conjugation pattern for –ER verbs

6 Ser is irregular in English, too!!

8 Ser: los usos Why do we need to learn the uses of SER?
In Spanish, we have 2 verbs that mean “to be;” SER and ESTAR. Do you remember the uses of ESTAR? “How you feel and where you are, that is when you use ESTAR!!!” We also learned to look for HELP… (health and conditions, emotions, location, and progressive tense. So what about SER???

Occupations are seen as life-long careers and are therefore seen as more "permanent" than many people would think in the United States. Soy  maestra del español.  Ellos son estudiantes. Mi padre es camarero.  Notice that the indefinite articles  un, un, una, unos, and unas are omitted  with with occupations after the verb ser.

12 Doctor SER– c is for characteristics
These “characteristics” are personality descriptions of a person, place or thing. They may answer the question, “What is ___ like?” They do not likely to change frequently. Amalia es inteligente y bonita, Las clases son divertidas.  Somos populares.

13 Doctor Ser: T is for time
