3 Placement of a direct object pronoun 1. Before the single conjugated(changed) verb Miro la tele mucho por la tarde. La miro mucho. 2. Attached to the end of an infinitive [ar/er/ir] ***if there are 2 verbs ***if there are 2 verbs Quiero comprar los zapatos negros. Los quiero comprar hoy. OR Quiero comprarlos hoy.

4 Ejemplos: Find the direct objects. Ask the questions…who/what receives the action of the verb. 1. Tengo mucha tarea. what do I have 2. No quieres comprar el vestido. what don’t you want to buy 3. La maestra cierra la puerta. what is shut 4. Los estudiantes empiezan los exámenes. what are the students beginning

6 Take out the NOUN and replace it with a PRONOUN! Ejemplo: No tengo el dinero. No lo tengo. 1. Ellos no llevan gorros. 2. Necesito los jeans. 3. ¿Quieres un helado? 4. Quiero la chaqueta amarilla. 5. Tengo las camisas.

7 Take out the noun and replace it with a PRONOUN! 1. Ellos no los llevan. 2. Los necesito. 3. ¿Lo quieres? 4. La quiero. 5. Las tengo.

8 Más práctica: me, te, nos 1. I understand you. 2. Do you understand me? 3. Our parents don’t understand us.

9 me, te, and nos… Te entiendo. [I understand you.] Te entiendo. [I understand you.] ¿Me entiendes? [Do you understand me?] ¿Me entiendes? [Do you understand me?] Nuestros padres no nos entienden. Nuestros padres no nos entienden. [Our parents don’t understand us.] *Look at the verb ending to decide WHO is doing the action (subject) when translating to English.
