3 Academics Académico Our goal is to help every student meet these requirements ● Our top priority is to educate and prepare students for future success. ● Students who pass all of the minimum requirements will be promoted to the next grade level. 4 Interventions Intervenciones There are many ways to get help at OVJH ● RTI at levels one, two and three for Reading and Math help during the school day. ● Flexible Flex time allows teachers and students to work together. 7 ● The iPad belongs to the school. ● Student is responsible for keeping iPads secure. ● Any issues or concerns should be reported to the nearest adult immediately! ● Student should keep his/her iPad in their backpack whenever not in use. ● Student should keep backpack with them at all times including in the restroom. ● If a student leaves class for any reason, the iPad should go with them in the backpack or be left with the teacher. ● During Physical Education class- all backpacks and iPads must be locked in the tall lockers and secured with student lock. ● While playing on field or blacktop during Lunch or Break, students must line up backpacks along inside fence. Do not take them onto the field or blacktop area. ● While playing in the gym during lunch- set backpacks in designated area. ● La tableta (iPad) le pertenece a la escuela. ● El/la estudiante es responsable de mantener la tableta segura. ● Cualquier problema o preocupacion debe ser reportado a un adulto cercano inmediatamente. ● El/la estudiante debe mantener su mochila consigo mismo todo el tiempo, incluyendo dentro de los baños,. ● Si el/la estudiante se va de la clase por cualquier razón, la tableta debe permanencer con el/ella, dentro de su mochila o con su maestro/a. ● Durante la hora de educación física, todas las mochilas y tabletas deberan permanecer bajo candado en los altos casilleros. ● Durante el tiempo que esten jugando en el pasto o cemento durante receso o almuerzo, el/la estudiante debe dejar su mochila en fila cerca del cancel. No se deben llevar al pasto o cemento por ningún motivo. ● Cuando esten en el gimnasio, durante el amuerzo, deben poner las mochilas en el área asignada. 8 Attendance Asistencia Attendance Counts! ● Students are expected to attend every day that school is in session and to be on time to all classes. ● Tardiness is disruptive to the learning environment, students receive disciplinary consequences and can be referred to SARB. ¡La asistencia es importante ! ● Se espera que los estudiantes vengan a la escuela todos los días cuando hay clases, y que lleguen a tiempo a sus clases. ● Los estudiantes son disciplinados por interrumpir las clases cuando llegan tarde y pueden ser referidos a SARB.

9 CHAMPS Acceptable Behavior Our school follows the CHAMPs model for setting and teaching the expectations for students. This system reinforces positive behavior and choices in the class and on the campus. For most activities students will be taught/reminded of the expectations in the following areas: ●C= Conversation- what noise level, if any is acceptable for the activity. Example: silent for testing ●H= Help- how can the student ask for help. Example: Raise hand ●A= Activity- what is the specific task for this activity. Example: discussing questions with a partner ●M=Movement- what movement if any is acceptable. Example: moving around the room for activity ●P=Participation- what participation looks like for the activity. Example: responding on iPads to survey ●S= Success- what the student will achieve if he/she follows the set expectations. Comportamiento Aceptable Nuestra escuela sigue el sistema del modelo CHAMPS. Este modelo reforza comportamiento positivo y variedad de elecciones en la clase y en el plantel. En la mayoría de actividades de los estudiantes se les enseñará/recordará lo que se espera en las siguientes áreas: ● C= Conversation – (conversación) que nivel de ruido es acceptable en ciertas actividades, por ejemplo, silencio al tomar exámenes ● H= Help – (ayuda) como el estudiante puede pedir ayuda. Ejemplo, levantando la mano ● A= Activity - (actividad) lo especifico en cada actividad. Ejemplo, trabajar con un compañero ● M= Movement - (moverse) que movimiento es acceptable. Ejemplo, moverse alrededor del salón de clases en una actividad ● P= Participation - (participación) la participación en alguna actividad. Ejemplo, responder encuesta en el iPads ● S= Success - (éxito) lo que el estudiante logrará si sigue las expectativas

10 Discipline Disciplina Treat others as you wish to be treated ● The discipline hierarchy promotes a positive environment for learning by instituting consistent consequences for behavior. ● The administration determines the consequences for each infraction. Trata a los demás como a tí te gustaría ser tratado. ● Una buena disciplina promueve un ambiente positivo para aprender, y también establece consecuencias de acuerdo al comportamiento. La oficina determina el nivel de cada ofensa.

11 Bullying ● Ocean View Junior High School is a community of students gathered for the purpose of formal learning wherein each respects him or herself, others, and the institution. ● Students will be responsible for following all established classroom and playground rules. ● Students will be respectful toward all faculty and staff members, parent volunteers, and other students. 13 Safety Seguridad Be Safe on and off campus ● Parking lot drop off is in 2 lanes marked by blue walk ways. ● There is 1 entry way and 1 exit for vehicles. ● Students should go directly home from school. ● Report any concerns to the office. La seguridad de los estudiantes dentro y fuera de la escuela ● Las 2 líneas de color azul son para “bajar” a los estudiantes. ● Para los vehículos hay 1 entrada y 1 salida. ● Después de clases los estudiantes deben irse directamente a sus casas. ● Cualquier preocupación que tenga, reportela a la oficina.
