Transcripción de la presentación:

-go Verbs There is a small but very important group of verbs that we call the “-go” verbs. These verbs are: Hacer: to make/do Poner: to put Traer: to bring Salir: to leave and Tener : to have Venir: to come Decir: to say/tell

Why are these grouped together?? The first verb from this family of verbs that we learned was…… tener (to have). Do you remember why the yo form was different?

¡Correcto! The yo form ends in –go. yo ten go And what is the yo form of venir (to come)?

On the “go” yo vengo How about the yo form for: traer (to bring)?

On the “go” yo traigo Can you guess the yo forms for: salir (to leave or go out)? poner (to put or place)?

“Go” for it! yo salgo yo pongo

And another verb we have seen before…. is also a “go” verb: hacer ha go

Let’s look at those “yo” forms again… Hacer: yo hago Poner: yo pongo Salir: yo salgo Tener : yo tengo Traer: yo traigo Venir: yo vengo

What about those other forms?? Like tú, él, nosotros…?? Most are regular !! For example: HACER yo hago tú haces él hace nosotros hacemos nosotros hacéis ellos hacen PONER yo pongo tú pones él pone nosotros ponemos vosotros ponéis ellos ponen

And… These are regular too !! TRAER yo traigo tú traes él trae nosotros traemos nosotros traéis ellos traen SALIR yo salgo tú sales él sale nosotros salimos vosotros salís ellos salen

BUT-----Venir But VENIR changes its stem: VENIR – to come yo vengonosotros venimos tú v ie nesvosotros venís él, ella, Ud. v ie neellos, ellas, Uds. v ie nen

Tener And TENER changes its stem: TENER – to have yo tengo nosotros tenemos tú t ie nes vosotros tenéis él t ie neellos t ie nen

Decir And DECIR changes its stem too EVEN IN THE YO FORM: DECIR – to say yo digonosotros decimos tú dicevosotros decís él, ella, Ud. diceellos, ellas, Uds. dicen

How about… > Salir – to leave or go out yo ______ tú ______ él ______ nosotros ______ vosotros ______ ellos ______

Salir – to leave or go out yo salgo tú sales él sale nosotros salimos vosotros salís ellos salen

Una mezcla (mixture) para practicar Cuando yo _______ (tener) tiempo, _______ (salir) al parque. Si mis amigos _______ (venir) a mi casa para pasar tiempo juntos, _______ (hacer) algo diferente.

Una mezcla - soluci ó n Cuando yo tengo tiempo, salgo al parque. Si mis amigos vienen a mi casa para pasar tiempo juntos, hacemos algo diferente. Notice how the subjects change in this sentence!

In conclusion… The – go verbs have an irregular yo form: hago, pongo, salgo, tengo, traigo, vengo, digo. The other forms are regular according to their conjugations. For example, trai go, traes, trae, traemos, traéis, traen. Venir, tener & decir are –go verbs that also change in the stem, in the tú, él, and ellos forms: tienes, tiene, tienen; vienes, viene, vienen; dices, dice, dicen. Decir is a –go verb that has a stem change in its yo form: digo.

That’s all, folks! Bravo!
