EL FUTURO

Habla con tu compañero/a: ¿Cómo hablamos del futuro en español?

There are two ways to talk about the future in Spanish. THE MOST COMMON: IR (to go) + a + verb = voy a estudiar después de escuela. (I’m going to study after school) 2. NOT AS COMMON: Verb + future ending ( é, ás, á, emos, án) = estudiaré después de escuela. (I will study after school)

¿Qué es la diferencia? In reality, you may use either, though using the future tense for talking about what you will do in the future sounds either very important or indicates determined plans, or a simply sounds a little stiff. Ejemplo: Voy a estudiar después de la escuela – I’m going to study after school Estudiaré después de escuela (I WILL study after school, gosh darn it, because I’ve been putting it off all week!)

Another common way to use future tense conjugations in Spanish: The future tense is also used to indicate prediction/opinion or probability in the present time. In English, expressions such as “probably”, “must”, “I/you think” are usually used rather than the future tense.   Example #1: Paco: “¿Dónde estará María?” Where do you think Mary is/might be (right now)? Ana. “Estará en casa.” She must be at home. Example #2: Paco: “¿Qué hora es?” What time is it? Ana: “Serán las ocho.” It must be 8:00. (Or: It is probably 8:00, I think it's 8:00, etc.) There is another, seldom seen use of the future: in commands, as in the Ten Commandments, where the usage is similar to that in English. No matarás. Thou shalt not kill.

Conjugating the future tense is the easiest tense to conjugate, because regardless of the verb, the endings are the same!!!! UNCONJUGATED VERB + ENDING SER yo seré tú serás él,ella, usted será nosotros seremos ustedes, ellos serán HABLAR hablaré hablarás hablará hablaremos hablarán COMER comeré comerás comerá comeremos comerán

IRREGULAR VERBS IN THE FUTURE HACER DECIR TENER PONER yo haré diré tendré pondré tú harás dirás tendrás pondrás él,ella,ud hará dirá tendrá pondrá nosotros haremos diremos tendremos pondremos ustedes harán dirán tendrán pondrán ellos PODER SABER QUERER SALIR yo podré sabré querré saldré tú podrás sabrás querrás saldrás él,ella,ud podrá sabrá querrá saldrá nosotros podremos sabremos querremos saldremos ustedes podrán sabrán querrán saldrán

IR conjugations in the present tense: yo voy tú vas él,ella, usted va nosotros vamos ustedes, ellos van a verb comer hablar ser estar etc.
