OBSTACLES OF THE COMMUNICATION PROCESS SEPTEMBER 2011

THE COMMUNICATION PROCESS We already talked about the communication process that is a system that transmits information to another system that is capable of receiving it. This week we are going to study obstacles that make the communication process to fail.

Obstacles of the Communication Process Communication barriers are those elements that negatively affect their effectiveness. There are several elements that we consider as obstacles of these negative aspects: 1.SEMANTIC OR VERBAL 2.ENVIRONMENTAL 3.PSYCHOLOGICAL 4.INTERPERSONAL 5.CULTURAL 6.PHYSIOLOGICAL

SEMANTIC OR VERBAL Is part of linguistics that is responsible for studying the meaning of words, many of them have several meanings. But the receiver, for many factors can interpreted differently or in some cases, do not understand, which influences the deformation or the failure of the message.

ENVIRONMENTAL Local circumstances are presented not in individuals but in the environment that prevent good communication such as noise, lighting, distance, media failure that is used to send a message

PSYCHOLOGICAL Represents the particular psychological situation of the sender or the receiver of information, sometimes caused by appreciation or rejection of the receiver or the sender, can be due also to emotional states (fear, anger, sadness, joy) or prejudice to approve or disapprove what other says, cannot read what is written, does not understand or believe what you hear or read.

INTERPERSONAL This matter is between two people who have negative effect on mutual communication. These interpersonal barriers are incorrect in different perceptions.

CULTURAL They occur when there are differences in education between the sender and the receiver and therefore the failure to understand the message.

PHYSIOLOGICAL The result from malfunctions and other dysfunctions and limitations.
