Subjects & Verbs Verbs are the action of your sentence or they indicate a state of being (is, seems, etc.). The subject is a noun or pronoun that tells you who does the verb/action of your sentence. Examples of subjects are nouns like Mary, Fred, and Jerome, or pronouns like I, you, or we.
