Stem-changing verbs are verbs where a vowel in the stem changes make a change to a different vowel or vowel combination. These verbs are also called BOOT VERBS because of the pattern they follow. These verbs DO NOT make this change in the nosotros or vosotros forms of the verbs.

The next to the last vowel of the infinitive is always the vowel that changes. EX: preferir You already know some stem-changing verbs…
