Pronombre del objeto indirecto

Just like direct object pronouns, we use indirect object pronouns when we don’t want to keep repeating the indirect object nouns. Repaso: What is a direct object? –Tells “what” is being acted upon by the verb. –Ej. Ricardo compra la pintura para ti. –Compra (bought) is the verb. –“What” is being bought? –La pintura is the direct object (eventually replaced by la) –Ricardo la compra para ti.

What is an indirect object? Tells “to whom” or “for whom” the verb is. Ej. Ricardo compra la pintura para ti. –Compra (bought) is still the verb. –“For whom” is something being bought? –Ti is the indirect object (eventually replaced by te). –Ricardo te compra la pintura. Since we can’t end a sentence with a preposition (like para, a, etc…), we can get rid of it completely.

¿Qué son los pronombres indirectos? Me Te Le Nos Os Les

Like direct object pronouns, indirect object pronouns are usually placed BEFORE CONJUGATED VERBS, and may be attached to infinitives and -ndo forms (progresivo). Ejemplo: El mesero da la cuenta a Laura. »(verbo) (DO) (IO) “a Laura” can be replaced by “le”, so… El mesero le da la cuenta.

Ejemplo usando un infinitivo: –El mesero va a dar la cuenta a Laura. (Option #1) El mesero va a darle la cuenta. (Option #2) El mesero le va a dar la cuenta. –El profesor de espa ñ ol quiere dar la tarea a nosotros. (Option #1) El profe. nos quiere dar la tarea. (Option #2) El profe. quiere darnos la tarea.

Una cosita más… When using the indirect object pronouns “le” and “les,” it is a good idea to clarify to whom you are referring by using a proper name or a pronoun. Ej. El mesero le dio la cuenta. –Who did the mesero give the bill to? –We don’t know unless we clarify. (Better Spanish) El mesero le dio la cuenta a Laura. ** It may seem redundant to do this, but it is the way to speak the best Spanish you can while making yourself as clear as possible!!! **
