IOP’s con preguntas

Indirect Objects in questions… Always seem harder because we aren’t used to IOP’s in the front of a sentence. Read the question, and then translate it to English. Look at the verb to decide the subject. ¿Me das un regalo? ¿Les compramos un helado? ¿Nos ayuda con la tarea?

Figuring out the question… Will be easier if you start with the verb. Underline the verb, then add the subject noun out in the left margin so the question makes more sense to you. ¿(Tú) me das un regalo? ¿(Nosotros) les compramos un helado? ¿(Ella) nos ayuda con la tarea?

Answering the question… Will depend on the perspective. Questions in TU get answered in YO. Questions in Él, Ella and Ellos/Ellas get answered in Él, Ella, Ellos/Ellas. Questions in nosotros get answered either in nosotros or vosotros/Uds, depending on who is talking.

IOP’s change too! ME will get answered with TE. EX: ¿Me das el chocolate? EX: Sí te doy el chocolate. NOS will get answered with OS/LES EX: Nos compras un helado? EX: No, no os compro un helado.

Try a couple in English. Then figure out how they would look in Spanish. ¿Will you lend me the car? (PRESTAR) ¿Will they give him the money? (DAR) ¿Can she buy them a pizza? (PODER, COMPRAR)

Checa las respuestas ¿Will you lend me the car? (PRESTAR) ¿Me prestas el coche? ¿Will they give him the money? (DAR) ¿Le dan el dinero? ¿Can she buy them a pizza? (PODER, COMPRAR) ¿Puede comprarles una pizza?

Ahora, contesta en español ¿Me prestas el coche? ¿Le dan el dinero? ¿Puede comprarles una pizza? ¿Vas a limpiarnos la casa?
