- Have a spelling change at the stem of the word. - A verb can change e ie, o ue, u ue or e i. - The vowel with a spelling change is the one placed closest to the –AR, -ER or –IR ending. - All verb forms except for vosotros and nosotros have stem- changes. - Stem-changing verbs are sometimes known as “boot verbs” because if you outline the forms that have the stem change in a conjugation chart, the outline looks as though you’ve drawn a boot! - Still follow the regular –ER, -IR or –AR endings.
