Expressing Possession In English, one way of expressing possession is to use possessive pronouns like my, your, his, her, its, our, their. The other way is the ’s – “John’s car” “my brother’s pen” We could phrase it as “the car of John” “the pen of my brother” but we almost never do. In Spanish, there is no such thing as ’s.
