Transcripción de la presentación:

Present Progressive What is it? The Present Progressive is used to say that an action is in progress in the moment. (I am running. She is running.)   To form the present progressive in Spanish, use the present tense of the verb ESTAR + present participle.

Present participle is like the -ing of the verbs (running, jumping, talking, etc.) To form the present participle (aka gerund), drop the ar/er/ir and add - ando or - iendo.

Present Paritiples (gerunds) ar- verbs -ando er & ir verbs -iendo Ejemplo: Yo estoy comiendo. (I am eating.) Ella está hablando. (She is talking.)

Reglas: When the stem of er & ir verbs ends in a vowel, add – yendo as the ending. Example: Yo estoy leyendo (leer). (I am reading.) Side note: *Leer –to read = leyendo *Traer – to bring = trayendo

2. Some Irregulars that have a stem- change. Pedir - pidiendo Servir- sirviendo Vestir- vistiendo Decir- diciendo Venir- viniendo Dormir- durmiendo

Let’s Practice: I am walking to the airport.   I am walking to the airport. Yo estoy caminando al aeropuerto.  2. We are talking on the phone. Nosotros estamos hablando por telefono. 3. He is sending a text.  El está enviando un texto.

Let’s Practice! They are waiting for the train. Ellos están esperando al tren. I am camping in The Redwoods. Yo estoy acampando en The Redwoods. You are reading fast. Tú estás leyendo rápido.

Pronouns (Like in reflexive verbs): (direct, indirect & reflexive pronouns) Can go before the ESTAR verb. Me estoy vistiendo. (I’m getting dressed.) Or can be attached to the end of the present participle (gerund) with an accent added. Estoy duchándome. (I’m taking a shower.) Estoy vistiéndome. (I’m getting dressed.)

Practica: pg. 421 actividad 12 Nosotros nos estamos quedando en un buen hotel. Nosotros estamos quedándonos en un buen hotel. 2. Yo me estoy levantando tarde. Yo estoy levantándome tarde. 3. Mis amigos están nadando en la piscina.

Practica: p.421 act. 12 Usted está haciendo un viaje en barco. El camarero está sirviendo la comida. 6. Mi padre está haciendo esquí acuático.
