Attendance The bell rings at 8:05am. If you child is not in class by 8:10am, they are TARDY! Absences and Tardiness do effect school work.

Asistencia La campana suena a las 8:05am. Si su hijo no esta en el salón a las 8:10am, ha llegado tarde! No venir a la escuela o llegar tarde afecta el aprendizaje de su hijo.

We have a lot going on during the day! Check in/ Morning work is from 8:05am-8:30am Reading is taught from 8:30am- 10:30am. Language Arts is taught from 10:30am- 11:25am. Lunch/ Recess from 11:25am to 12:05pm.

We have a lot going on during the day! Math is taught from 12:05-1:05pm. Social Studies/ Science from 1:05pm- 2:05pm. Specials is from 2:05pm-2:35pm Go home at 2:40.

Language Arts In 4 th grade your child will be learning the following in Language Arts… ABC order, Reference books, grammar, informational text, and much more.

Lenguaje En cuarto año su hijo aprenderá sobre lo siguiente Orden alfabético, libros de referencia, gramática, como usar información de la vida común, y mucho mas.

Spelling Your child will have Spelling words each week. They will get a new list every MONDAY! Please make sure your child is studying their words EVERY NIGHT!!

Ortografía Su hijo recibe palabras nuevas de ortografía cada semana. Por favor asegúrense que las practiquen todos los días.

Reading We are using the Daily 5/CAFÉ model Students choose their own reading material (w/teacher help if needed) for their reading pleasure. (IPICK) Teachers are able to have individual, small group, and whole group instruction There are also language arts components to the program (word work, work on writing) Students also have opportunities to read to others and listen to someone read to them.

Lectura Este año estamos usando el método de Daily 5 Los estudiantes escogen los libros que quieren leer. El maestro va a dar instrucción, individual, grupos pequeños, o a todo el salón. Otros componentes son escritura y vocabulario. Estudiantes también tienen la oportunidad de leerle a otros y escuchar a alguien leer.

Math Math is 1 hour and 15 minutes long every day. 1 hour is done in math class and the other 15 minutes is facts practice and problem solving. Math homework is assigned every night except Fridays. Students switch classes for Math.

Specials In 4 th grade we go to the following specials- PE Music Library Computers

Tiempos Extras Este año tenemos una rotación de 6 días. Eso significa que van todos los días a su tiempo extra. Educación Especial Música Biblioteca Computadoras

Homework We give homework everyday except Friday*. Please sign your child’s planner nightly. Each Monday they will fill out their planner for the week.

Homework If your child doesn’t complete homework they can lose the following… Fun Friday time Recess A grade for that assignment.

Fun Friday Class work and Homework must be finished prior to Fun Friday, if not it will be completed in class during that time.

Communication We can send notes home in planners or . We also make phone calls home if needed. Please make sure your child’s teacher and the office have current numbers for you.

Donations Thank you to all that have donated already. We always need tissues, hand sanitizer, cups, antibacterial wipes for tables and baby wipes for hands.

Celebrations We don’t mind if you bring goodies to celebrate birthdays, but there are a few things to keep in mind… Please let your child’s teacher know ahead of time that you are bringing something. Goodies will be given out between 1:30pm- 1:45pm. No balloons please!

Upcoming Events Parent/Teacher conferences are coming up. They will be held on the August 28th and 29th. Be on the look at for the sign up slip, it is first come first serve for times. See you there!!!

Eventos que siguen Ya vienen las conferencias. Van a ser el 28 y 29 de agosto. Espere el papel muy pronto para que escoja el tiempo que mejor le convenga. Los mas pronto que lo entregue tiene mejor posibilidad de tener su horario. Los vemos ese día!!!
