Los complementos directos Direct Object Pronouns

What is a DOP? Tells who or what receives the action of the verb Marta amo a Miguel. –Marta loves Miguel. Miguel is the direct object because he is receiving the love. –If we replace Miguel with him, then him is the direct object pronoun.

What are the DOPs? Espanol me te lo / la nos os los /las English me you him / her / it us you all them /them

Examples Ella pone la mesa. –She sets the table. Yo lavo los platos. –I wash the plates. Mi madre prepara la comida. –My mother prepares the food. Ella la pone. –She sets it. Yo los lavo. –I wash them. Mi madre la prepara. –My mother prepares it.

Examples Ella ama a Juan. –She loves Juan. Ella lo ama. –She loves him. Marcos me llama por teléfono. –Marcos calls me on the telephone. Yo te espero. –I wait for you. Nuestros abuleos nos visitan. –Our grandparents visit us.

Placement of DOP Notice that in the examples, the DOP goes BEFORE the verb, not after it like in English. Spanish. DOP comes before the verb: La –Mi madre la prepara. English. DOP comes after the verb: IT –My mother prepares it.
