Notes You will copy the following notes on page 194 of your INB. The title for this section is: Comparing Quantities; adjectives as nouns If you run out of room, get a loose leaf-paper and continue your notes there.

Comparing how often You can compare how often things happen or how often people do things with más que, menos que, and tanto como. En el invierno nieva más que en el otoño. En el desierto llueve menos que en la costa. No viajo tanto como mis hermanos.

Comparing Quantities Use the expressions más…que, menos…que, and tanto(a/os/as)…como with nouns to compare quantities. Hay más huracanes en el verano que en el invierno. En general, vas a ver menos águiles que buitres. Vinieron tantos turistas a la playa este año como el año pasado.

Adjectives as nouns To avoid repetition, leave out the nouns and use más, menos, tanto, tantos, tanta, and tantas. No veo serpientes en el jardín. Aquí no hay tantas como en el campo. Tantas refers to serpientes.
