Object Pronouns Spanish 2, textbook page R56, Repaso G

The object pronouns are: Indirect Direct Yo me me Tú te te Él le lo Ella le la Ud le lo/la Nosotros nos nos Ellos les los Ellas les las Uds les los/las

1)These are object pronouns that take the place of nouns 1)These are object pronouns that take the place of nouns. (I bought a book for Maria. I bought IT for HER.) 2)*Direct objects answer the question “what?” or “who?” ( qué o quién?) *Indirect objects answer the question to or for “who(m)?” ( A o para quién?)

3) In Spanish, it is possible to have an indirect object and an indirect object pronoun in the same sentence. Sometimes this is to clarify, often in the case of le and les, and sometimes it is just preference. Ex: Yo les doy dulces a mis amigos. Le dije a Juan que iba a llegar tarde.

4) When you have both a direct and an indirect object pronoun, the INDIRECT goes first. ID Ex: Alicia me dio el informe. Alicia me lo dio. 5)Indirect object pronouns change to SE when 2 object pronouns that start with “L” are back to back. Ex: La doctora le dio las radiografías a él. La doctora se las dio.

Placement of object pronouns: 6) These pronouns sit before the conjugated verb in a sentence Lo compré – I bought it. 7) These pronouns attach to the end of affirmative commands but go before a negative command. Cómpralo – Buy it! No lo compres- Don’t buy it

8)With infinitives and gerunds, you can either attach them to the infinitive or gerund or put them before the verb (like reflexives). NEVER separate a verb. -Necesité comprarlo. or Lo necesité comprar. (I needed to buy it.) -Estoy comprándolo. or Lo estoy comprando. ( I am buying it.)
