Perú has approximately 28 million inhabitants. Most of them are of Quechuas, white European, or a mix of Indian and white descent. Peru has a mix of climates from the desert in the coast, to the jungle in the Amazon river in the north to the high mountain region in the middle of the country. But Lima is a city in the middle of the desert at high risk due to climate change.

Shalom is a ministry with the vision to bring the good news of the Gospel to the Peruvian people as an answer to the necessity of consolation after years of civil war. We believe in the power of the Holy Spirit to transform the life of the people, the community and the society.

SHALOM, is a Christian ministry passionate for integral mission of the church. We are committed to help marginalized people in the spiritual, social and cultural areas.

Shalom was born in August 1992 in Lima as a result of the reflection of a group of theologians and sociologists and we got legal registration as a non profit organization in 1994.

Under God’s direction Shalom promotes: - Integral development for Quechuas, Coyas and Aymaras indigenous groups in remote communities where no other organization is working. - We work with and through the local church as we believe in the unique role of the church to transform the life of the communities.

Preparedness and disaster responses to avoid famine as a result of the freezing temperatures which are arriving earlier every year. -Increasing resilience in the community to face the effects of climate change. -Improving the participation of the women in community decisions

Our achievements: -Increased participation of the women in the decision making process. - The local church and community based organization improved their participation in the life of the community. - Local authorities committed and participated in preparedness and disaster responses along side with the community. Lograr confianza y buenas relaciones entre las organizaciones no gubernamentales, los pastores y en particular con el Gobierno Local.

Lograr que los grupos de personas, mujeres, Jóvenes, ancianos, niños sean motivados para detener el declive de la naturaleza en su entorno. - Logra que figuras políticas locales estén dispuestos a escuchar los deseos de su pueblo. -Lograr que los gobiernos locales incluyan al presupuesto anual para mejorar en algunos y en otros excavar los canales.

Tenemos que unir nuestro corazón en fe en el Dios de la Vida. A partir re ella re-leer las Escrituras con una visión de que el medio ambiente, Dios, el hombre, mujer, niño, joven, anciano formen parte de un todo en el que la convivencia sea mas justo. Que sea posible cambiar la tristeza en gozo y esperanza de grandes y pequeños.
