To conjugate in the imperfect: Drop the -ar, -er, -ir Add an ending to match the subject

Yo bailaba. - I was dancing. I used to dance. -ar endings aba ábamos abas aba aban Yo bailaba. - I was dancing. I used to dance. Nosotros mirábamos. – We were watching. We used to watch.

-er & -ir endings ía íamos ías ía ían Él comía. - He was eating. He used to eat. Ellos vivían. - They were living. They used to live.

Translation used to ___ was/were ___ing I used to swim, we used to travel was/were ___ing You were talking, he was listening
