Important points to remember about the imperfect:

1. For regular imperfect tense verb conjugations, drop the ending of the infinitive and add the following endings in its place:

Drop –AR, and add… yo ___aba nosotros _____ábamos nosotras tú ___abas vosotros ______abais vosotras él ellos ella ___aba ellas ______aban Usted Ustedes

Drop –ER, and add… yo ___ía nosotros ______íamos nosotras tú ___ías vosotros ______íais vosotras él ellos ella ___ía ellas ______ían Usted Ustedes

Drop –IR, and add… yo ___ía nosotros ______íamos nosotras tú ___ías vosotros ______íais vosotras él ellos ella ___ía ellas ______ían Usted Ustedes

–AR, –ER, and -IR stem-changing verbs do NOT have a stem-change in the preterite!! YEAH!!! 2.

2. Irregular imperfect tense First, write the English equivalent for the Spanish infinitive. Then,conjugate the infinitive into the imperfect tense. Also, write the English translation of the imperfect 1st person singular (yo) as it will be the basis for the other translations of each person. There are only 3 (THREE) irregular imperfect tense verbs - SER (to be), VER (to see), IR to go – YEAH!! 
