ALL RIGHTS RESERVED. 5 How can we avoid hand injuries? ▌Primary and secondary defense.  Proper planning of each task.  The review of materials / equipment to identify rough or sharp surfaces before handling.  The correct use of guards on moving machine parts.  Placement of effective barriers between the hands and hazards through the use of tools or other devices.  Housekeeping on workbenches, etc.
