Some verbs in Spanish may seem like they should be reflexive, but they are not. They follow the pattern you have learned for gustar and are normally used with an indirect object pronoun.

doler (ue)- to hurt Fernando’s legs hurt. My head hurts. A Fernando le duelen las piernas. A mi me duele la cabeza.

hacer falta- to be necessary/lacking They need to do more exercise. I am lacking the books. Les hace falta hacer más ejercicio. Me hace faltan los libros.

importar- to be important, to matter It does not matter to me. The teachers are not important to us. No me importa. No nos importan los profesores.

parecer- to seem Does it seem difficult (to you?) ¿Te parece difícil? They appear sad to me. ¿Te parece difícil? Me parecen triste.
