Subject Pronouns Subject of a sentence = who is doing the action could be a person’s name Ana canta y baila. Ana sings and dances. could be a subject pronoun (in English: I, you, he, she, we, they) Ella canta y baila. She sings and dances.

Subject Pronouns in Spanish: yo I nosotros we (males & females) nosotras we (females) tú you (familiar) vosotros you (plural - Spain) vosotras you (plural - Spain) usted (Ud.) you (formal) ustedes (Uds.) you (plural) él he ella she ellos they (males & females) ellas they (females)

Tú, usted, ustedes, and vosotros all mean “you.” tú => used for family, peers, anyone you call by his/her first name usted => adults you address with a title; shows respect ustedes => used to talk to 2 or more people (“all of you”) vosotros/vosotras => used only in Spain when talking to 2 or more people (“all of you”)

If a group is made up of all females, use the feminine forms: If a group is made up of males only, or males and females together, use the masculine forms: nosotros vosotros ellos If a group is made up of all females, use the feminine forms: nosotras vosotras ellas

You can combine a pronoun + a name to form a subject. Alejandro y yo (Alejandro and I) => nosotros (we) Raúl y tú (Raúl and you) => ustedes (you - plural) Carlos y ella (She and Carlos) => ellos (they - m.) Lola y ella (She and Lola) => ellas (they - f.)
