Nouns – How to Identify them NUMBER GENDER Singular Plural Masculine Feminine

How to determine a noun’s gender We can determine a noun’s gender & number by looking at its ARTICLE. (The article is the little word right before the noun.) Articles: Masculine = el & los Feminine = la & las Singular = el & la Plural = las & los

So, we have 4 different combinations Articles So, we have 4 different combinations MS = el MP = los FS = la FP = las Singular Plural Masculine El Los Feminine La Las

Ejemplos MS  el (el chico) FS  la (la chica) MP  los (los chicos) FP  las (las chicas)

What about Adjective Agreement? All Adjectives Must agree in NUMBER & GENDER with the Nouns they are modifying!

Adjective Agreement Adjective Endings: El  O El chico es guapo. La  A La chica es guapa. Los  OS Los chicos son guapos. Las  AS Las chicas son guapas.

Ejemplos La Señora Schoolcraft es castaña. Castaño  Castaña La Señora Schoolcraft es inteligente. Inteligente = Inteligente (no change) La Señora Schoolcraft es trabajadora. Trabajador  Trabjadora

How to make words plural? If a word ends in a consonant  add “es” la mujer  las mujeres If a word ends in a vowel  add “s” la chica  las chicas *Don’t forget to change the article as well!

Más Ejemplos Los chicos son altos. Las chicas son altas. Los chicos son inteligentes. Las chicas son inteligentes. Los chicos son trabajadores. Las chicas son trabajadoras.
