más + adjective/noun + que (more ____ than) To compare two things, people, or qualities in Spanish

Antonio es más alto que Pablo. Remember that adjectives must agree in gender and number with the nouns they modify Antonio es más alto que Pablo. Pablo Antonio

Los carros son más grandes que las bicicletas.

Another way to compare two people, things, or qualities is to use: menos + adjective/noun + que (less _____ than)

Pablo es menos alto que Antonio.

María es menos alta que su madre. Madre María

You can compare things that are equal by using the expression: Tan + adjective + como (as _____ as)

José es tan alto como Carmen. Jose Carmen

To compare quantities: tanto(s) + noun + como + noun tanta(s) + noun + como + noun

Hay tantos chicos como chicas.

Hay tantas sillas como escritorios.

Some unequal comparisons are made with mejor, peor, mayor or menor:

Peor + que: worse than Esta pizza está peor que la otra.

Mejor + que: better than Yo canto mejor que ella.

mayor + que: older than Mi hermano es mayor que yo.

Menor + que: younger than Mi hermana es menor que yo.
