1.The present progressive is used to describe actions that are in progress at the present time. It is formed by using estar with the present participle of the verb, which is formed by removing-ar, -er, or -ir from the infinitive, and adding -ando or -iendo. 2.Some verbs have spelling changes in their present participles, especially stem-changing verbs. caer → cayendo mentir →mintiendo decir →diciendo morir →muriendo dormir →durmiendo pedir →pidiendo leer →leyendo traer →trayendo

4.The present progressive can also be used with the verbs andar and seguir. Andar + present participle give the impression that someone goes around doing something continuously, sometimes with a slightly negative connotation. Seguir is a spelling-change verb. Before -e or -i, the stem keeps the gu: sigues. Before -a or -o, the gu changes to g: sigo. Él anda pidiendo favores.      He goes around asking for favors. Seguir + present participle is used to say that someone keeps on doing something, or is still doing something. Yo sigo viviendo en París.     I′m still living in Paris.
