UNIT 5
Can / can’t Can es un verbo modal que utilizamos delante de otros verbos. No necesita un verbo auxiliar para hacer las formas negativas e interrogativas. ( cannot/ can’t, Can you…?) No añadimos –s para la 3ª persona del singular. Todas las personas tienen la misma forma.( I can, you can, she can…etc/ I can’t, you can’t , she can’t…)
El verbo can tiene diferentes significados: saber, poder, saber , ser capaz de… ej.- I can play the piano. (saber) She is 18, she can drive ( poder) También utilizamos can para hacer preguntas/ peticiones. ej.- Can you open the window, please?
Present continuous Usamos el presente continuo para hablar de cosas que estamos haciendo en este momento. También usamos el presente continuos para periodos más largo de tiempo tales como como hoy, esta semana, etc. Ej.- I am studying English at the moment. Ej.- I am working at home this week.
Construimos el presente continuo con: VERBO TO BE + VERBO –ING Singular Plural I am working We are working You are working You are working He is working They are working She is working It is working
- Para hacer la forma negativa del presente continuo negamos el verbo to be. ej.- He isn’t working ej.- They aren’t working - Para hacer la forma interrogativa del presente continuo ponemos el verbo to be delante del sujeto. ej.- Is he working….? ej.- Are they working…?
Presente simple o presente continuo? -Usamos el PRESENTE SIMPLE para hablar de: *las cosas que hacemos normalmente ej.- I get up at 7.30 *las cosas que son normalmente verdad ej.- It rains here a lot in the spring *lo usamos normalmente con los adverbios de frecuencia ej.-They often play football
Usamos el PRESENTE CONTINUO: *Para hablar de lo que está ocurriendo ahora. ej.- Look! It is raining *Con las expresiones: at the moment, today, this week. ej.- She is woking at home this week
