Resumen: Dorothy anhela viajar "más allá del arco iris" a una tierra diferente y su deseo se hace realidad cuando un tornado se la lleva junto a su perrito al mundo de Oz. Pero la aventura sólo acaba de comenzar; Dorothy, tras ofender a la Malvada Bruja del Oeste (Margaret Hamilton), y por sugerencia de la Bruja Buena del Norte, (Billie Burke), se dirige por el camino amarillo hacia la Ciudad Esmeralda, donde vive el todopoderoso Mago de Oz, que puede ayudar a la niña a regresar a Kansas. Por el camino, se hace amiga del Espantapájaros (Ray Bolger), el Hombre de Hojalata (Jack Haley) y el León Cobarde (Bert Lahr). El Espantapájaros ansía un cerebro, el Hombre de Hojalata quiere un corazón y el León desea el coraje que le falta; como creen que el Mago les puede ayudar a ellos también, deciden unirse a Dorothy en su odisea hasta la Ciudad Esmeralda.

Summary / Resumen. Dorothy yearns to travel "over the rainbow" to a different land and their wish comes true when a tornado takes her dog with her to the world of Oz. But the adventure has only just begun, Dorothy, having offended the Wicked Witch of the West (Margaret Hamilton), at the suggestion of the Good Witch of the North (Billie Burke) is addressed by the Yellow Brick Road to the Emerald City, where live the all-powerful Wizard of Oz, who can help the girl return to Kansas. By the way, she befriends a Scarecrow (Ray Bolger), Tin Man (Jack Haley) and Cowardly Lion (Bert Lahr). The brain craves Scarecrow, the Tin Man wants a heart and the Lion wants courage is lacking, as they believe that the Wizard will help them too, they join Dorothy on her odyssey to the Emerald City.
