Parts of Speech: What is a noun? What is an adjective? What is a verb? A noun is a person, place, thing. Has a definite or indefinite article attached. What is an adjective? An adjective describes a noun. In Spanish, it comes after the noun. What is a verb? A verb is an action or a state of being. Comes after the subject. What is a preposition? A preposition describes a location.

Label each word using parts of speech: El chico gracioso estudia delante de la computadora. El chico = Noun El = Definite Article Gracioso = Adjective Estudia = Verb Delante de = Preposition La computadora = Noun La = Definite Article El reloj azul está encima de la mesa roja. Las ventanas grandes están debajo de la bandera roja, azul, y blanca.

El verbo ESTAR = to be The –ar verbs you have used until now are called “regular verbs” because they follow a regular pattern. For example: Bailar = to dance Bailo Bailamos Bailas Bailáis Baila Bailan Verbs that do not follow a regular pattern are called “irregular verbs.”
