3 Las formas del subjuntivo Start with the present tense yo form of the verb Take off the ending Add the opposite endings  -ar verbs: endings for present tense -er verbs  -er and -ir verbs: endings for present tense forms -ar verbs -e-emos -es-éis -e-en -a-amos -as-áis -a-an

4 Práctica vivir (yo) estudiar (Uds.) comer (tú) escribir (nosotros) descansar (ella) vivo viva estudio estudien como comas escribo escribamos descanso descanse

5 Verbos con formas irregulares de yo Always begin with the yo form to take into account any irregular yo forms in the present tense!! Por ejemplo:  conocer conozco  tener tengo conozcaconozcamos conozcas conozcaconozcan tengatengamos tengas tengatengan

6 Los cambios radicales Any verb that has a stem change in the present tense will also have a stem change in the subjunctive. Stem-changing verbs that end in –ir have a stem change in the nosotros and vosotros forms of the subjunctive according to the following patterns  e>ie and e>i stem-changing verbs have an e>i stem change outside of the “boot” in the subjunctive  o>ue stem-changing verbs have an o>u stem change outside of the “boot” in the subjunctive Other stem-changing verbs DO NOT stem change in the nosotros or vosotros forms in the subjunctive.

9 Los irregulares The irregular verbs in the -tú, Ud. and Uds. Command forms are also the same verbs that are irregular in the subjunctive. Dar (to give) dé, des, dé, demos, den Estar (to be) esté, estés, esté, estemos, estén Ir (to go) vaya, vayas, vaya, vayamos, vayan Saber (to know) sepa, sepas, sepa, sepamos, sepan Ser (to be) sea, seas, sea, seamos, sean Haber (helping verb) haya, hayas, haya, hayamos, hayan
