1 Capítulo 7 Grammar 2 estar, sentirse (ie), tener expressions and tú affirmative and negative commands estar – to be estoy estamos estás ------ está están Ella está enojada. She is angry. Ellos están cansados. They are tired.

2 sentirse (ie) --- to feel me siento nos sentimos te sientes ------- se siente se sienten Ella se siente enojada. She feels angry. Ellos se sienten cansados. They feel tired.

3 Tener expressions Tener --- to have sed --- thirsty tengo tenemos hambre --- hungry tienes ----- frío --- cold tiene tienen calor --- hot prisa --- in a hurry miedo --- afraid sueño --- sleepy

4 Examples She is afraid. Ella tiene miedo. They are in a hurry. Ellos tienen prisa. When using adjectives with estar and sentirse (ie) the adjectives must agree with the subjects in gender (masculine/feminine) and number (singular/plural). Tener expressions do not agree with the subject.

5 Tú affirmative commands -ar verbs end in “a” -er, -ir verbs end in “e” 7 irregulars (hacer – haz, poner – pon, salir -- sal, venir – ven, ir – ve, tener -- ten, ser – sé) Stem change Pronouns always attach Walk. Camina. Wake up. Despiertate.

6 Tú negative commands Take “yo”, drop “o” -ar verbs end in “es” -er, -ir verbs end in “as” 3 irregulars (ser --- no seas, ir --- no vayas, dar --- no des) Stem change Pronouns always go in front Don’t walk. No camines. Don’t wake up. No te despiertes.
