Apuntes (5.2.15) Mandatos MANDATOS are commands for telling people what to do. You conjugate verbs depending on who you are talking to. tú = informal one person Ud. = formal one person Uds. = group of people (formal in Spain, both formal and informal in Latin America)

Apuntes (5.2.15) Mandatos Tú affirmative commands conjugate differently than the rest. – Use the él/ella/Ud. present tense form of the verb. – comer - ¡Come! – escuchar - ¡Escucha! – pensar - ¡Piensa! – abrir - ¡Abre!

Apuntes (5.2.15) Mandatos Tú negative commands and all Ud., Uds. commands conjugate the same: 1.Conjugate in the yo present tense. 2.Drop the –o. 3.Add the opposite endings: -ar-er / -ir tú negative-es-as Ud.-e-a Uds.-en-an

Apuntes (5.2.15) Mandatos Tú negative commands and all Ud., Uds. commands have a few irregular verbs: – ir - ¡No vayas! ¡Vaya! ¡Vayan! – dar - ¡No des! ¡Dé! ¡Den! – ser - ¡No seas! ¡Sea! ¡Sean! – estar - ¡No estés! ¡Esté! ¡Estén! – saber - ¡No sepas! ¡Sepa! ¡Sepan!

Apuntes (5.2.15) Mandatos The placement of pronouns with commands depends on if the command is affirmative or negative: affirmativenegative Pronoun is attached to the command and an accent is added to the third vowel from the end of the command The pronoun is written before the conjugated command. ¡Háblame! ¡Despiértate! ¡No me hables! ¡No te despiertes!

Apuntes (9.2.15) Recomendaciones IMPERSONAL Use the following phrases plus an infinitive verb: – (no) se debe = one should (not) – (no) hay que = one must (not) – (no) es bueno = it is (not) good to – (no) es aconsejable = it is (not) recommended to – MODELO: No se debe comer sal, si tienes la tension alta.

Use the following phrases plus an infinitive verb: – (no) debes = you should (not) – (no) hay que = you must (not) – (no) puedes = you can (not) – (no) necesitas = you (do not) need to – MODELO: No debes comer sal, si tienes la tension alta.

Apuntes (9.2.15) Adverbios Adverbios describen verbos. En español generalmente son palabras de –mente. En inglés generalmente son palabras de – ly. generalmente = generally facilmente = easily

Apuntes (9.2.15) Adverbios Adjetivo feminino + -mente = adverbio moderada + -mente = moderadamente excesiva + -mente = excesivamente frecuente + -mente = frecuentemente lenta + -mente = lentamente rápida + -mente = rápidamente

Apuntes (11.2.15) Tu impersonal La forma de tú de un verbo puede comunicar anybody o everybody. – Si comes demasiado, engordas. (Not directed at anyone in particular) También el se impersonal comunica anybody o everybody. Escribe se antes de un verbo de él/ella/Ud. – Si se come demasiado, se engorda.
