When do you use gustar?

To imply likes and dislikes (the verb to like does not exist in Spanish)

It is important to note that the grammatical word order is different when using gustar.

Parts of speech: Subject: performs the action of the sentence. Verb: is the action of the sentence. Direct Object: receives the action of the verb. Indirect Object: benefits from the action received by the direct object.

The subject of a gustar sentence is always the item(s) found pleasing.
