4 Remember that you use direct object pronouns when you don’t want to keep repeating the direct object nouns. Examine the examples below!! Comemos el pescado.Lo comemos We eat fish.We eat it. Llamamos a la mesera.La llamamos. We called the waitressWe called her. Tengo los tomates.Los tengo. I have the tomatoes.I have them. ¿Comiste las peras?¿Las comiste? Did you eat the pears?Did you eat them?

5 Direct Object Pronouns are always placed before conjugated verbs or attached to infinitives and –ndo forms. With an infinitive: Yo voy a llevar mi abrigo.= I’m going to wear my coat. Yo lo voy a llevar= I’m going to wear it. I COULD HAVE ALSO SAID: Yo voy a llevarlo.= I’m going to wear it. With –ando/-iendo Lo estoy llevando= I am wearing it I COULD HAVE ALSO SAID: Estoy llevándolo= I m wearing it.

6 Práctica. Answer the following questions using a direct object pronoun. Follow the model. 1. ¿Comiste una zanahoria? 1a. Sí, la comí. 2.¿Tomaste un batido de Chocolate? 2a. No, no lo tomé. 3. ¿Comiste frijoles? 3a. Sí, los comí. 4. ¿Tomaste jugo de manzana? 4a. No, no lo tomé.

9 Like direct object pronouns, Indirect object pronouns are usually placed before conjugated verbs, and may be attached to infinitives and –ndo forms. Ejemplos: El mesero dio la cuenta a Laura. D.O.PI.D.O.P El mesero le dio la cuenta. The waiter gives Laura the bill. The waiter gives her the bill. El mesero va a darle la cuenta. The waiter is going to give her the bill. El mesero está dándole la cuenta. The waiter is giving her the bill.

10 Práctica. Change each sentence using Indirect object pronouns. Modelo: Yo dejé una propina al mesero.= Yo le dejé una propina. 1. Mandé una tarjeta postal a ti.= 2. Yo voy a dar la cuenta a Juana.= 3. La mesera sirvió los tacos a mí. = 4. Ella está diciendo la verdad a su madre. 5. La señorita ofreció los boletos a un buen precio a ustedes.
