 Making complete sentences How to make complete sentences in Spanish. The following presentation is designed to help you learn how to do the following: Identify the subject and verb to be used How to add in the extra words that are not given initially in the question prompt How to make sure that your sentence makes sense. *Remember, if you don’t study your vocabulary, it will be VERY DIFFICULT to write sentences.

 You must be able to ID the correct subject and verb to be used in the sentence. Step 1: Identify the subject & verb The verb is the action that the subject is “doing”. Example test question: Miguel / oír subject verb We must use Miguel as the subject and oír as the verb. YOU MUST ALWAYS CONJUGATE THE VERB! The subject will go first in the sentence, followed by the verb. Answer: Miguel oye oigo oyes oye oímos oís oyen

 In order to have a sentence make sense, you must include other words. Step 2: Adding the needed extras Now that we have our beginning sentence, Miguel oye, we must make it more complete with additional wording. For example, Miguel hears what? How often? When? Do we need to add “a” or “an” or “some” or “the”, etc.? Example test question: Miguel / oír / siempre / a / el doctor First step, Identify the words we are given. What is the subject? Verb? Direct object? Remember to identify situations where words change due to the gender of the nouns. Write your sentence. Miguel siempre oye al doctor. Miguel always hears the doctor.

 Sometimes you are not prompted with the words you need, this is what you do. Adding in extra words. Some important vocabulary that we have learned: Indefinite articles: un, una, unos, unas Definite articles: el, la, los, las Adverbs that express frequency: siempre, rara vez, nunca, mucho, poco, de vez en cuando, todos los días The personal “a” When? Por la mañana, por la tarde, por la noche Any others? Test question example: Miguel y yo / conocer Write a complete sentence using vocabulary and anything else you need.

 Write complete sentences using what we have learned. Put into practice 1.Yo / hacer 2.Ellos / oír 3.Tú / conocer 4.Jaime y yo / escribir 5.Ellos / preparar 6.Yo / hacer 7.Yo / conocer
