2 Affirmative command Commands are not always meant to be considered “mean or demanding” There are different types of commands, this command is considered an informal command Informal “tú” form commands are odd because they are conjugated in the él/ella/usted form

3 Affirmative command Tell someone to do something
Examples in the tú form “Pablo, lava la ropa.” “Linda, saca la basura.” “Cristóbal, cocina la cena ahora.” Commands are always used in dialogue between two people.

4 Affirmative commands Affirmative means that you are telling someone to do something as opposed to not to do something. For example, Take out a piece of paper, please. (Affirmative) Don’t take out a piece of paper. (Negative)

5 Irregular commands Hacer (to do, make) Haz Tener (to have) Ten

7 Commands with direct object pronouns
Many times direct object pronouns can be used with commands. For example, instead of saying “ put your pencil away ” you can say “put it away”

8 Creating commands with direct object pronouns
Attach the DOP to end of the affirmative command When attached, if the command has more than 2 syllables, an accent is added -¿Qué debo hacer con las botellas y latas? Sepáralas, por favor

9 Acentos Natural stress falls on the second to last syllable
If the command has multiple syllables and a DOP is added an accent is necessary. For example, the natural stress in the word come is on the underlined syllable come If the command was “Eat the fruit” and you want to say “Eat it” instead the command would go from… “Come la fruta” to…. “Comela” but a DOP was added which means the original stessed vowel needs an accent. Where would it go? “Cómela”
