3 Stem-Changing Verbs Dormir and poder have the stem change of o=>ue when they are conjugated, but they are not the only stem-changing verbs. Pensar, querer, and preferir are e=>ie stem-changing verbs - this means that when you conjugate the verbs, the e will change to ie [in preferir it’s the 2nd e that changes] except in the nosotros and vosotros tenses.
