3 To form the present progressive you….

4 estar+ present participle= present progressive
Add a form of the verb estar in the present tense estoy estamos estás estáis está están To form the present participle ar verbs: ando er/ir verbs: iendo or –yendo if you remove the ending from an er/ir verb and what’s next is a vowel then you change the spelling to –yendo.

5 hablar- to speak, to talk
estoy hablando estamos hablando estás hablando estáis hablando está hablando están hablando comer- to eat estoy comiendo estamos comiendo estás comiendo estáis comiendo está comiendo están comiendo

8 stem-changing verbs have a stem vowel change.
Remember that some –ir stem-changing verbs have a stem vowel change. pedir……..pidiendo dormir……….durmiendo

9 The progressive can also be used in the past.
To form the past progressive, use the imperfect tense of estar + -ando, -iendo -yendo forms

11 When do you use the progressive tenses?
You only use them for an action that is actually going on at the time of the sentence. Present Progressive: Isabel está hablando con don Miguel. Past Progressive Isabel estaba escribiendo un artículo sobre el temblor.
