2 3 Types of Commands 1) Informal (Tú Form) Commands
-Informal / Telling somebody to do or not to do something -This is the most common type of command 2) Formal (Usted and Ustedes Form) Commands A more formal command / A more polite way of telling somebody to do something 3) Nosotros Form Commands -Used to say “let’s…” -For example: “Let’s eat” , “Let’s Go”

3 Informal (Tú) Commands
When using commands in Spanish, there are two types: 1) Affirmative = TO DO SOMETHING 2) Negative = NOT TO DO SOMETHING

4 Affirmative Tú Form Commands
To form the AFFIRMATIVE: Begin with the infinitive of the verb Take off the ending (ar, er, ir) Add: AR = -a ER = -e IR = -e *Note: The Tú form command is the same as the regular Ud. Form present tense.

9 NEGATIVE Informal (Tú) Commands
To form the Informal NEGATIVE Command (To tell somebody to NOT DO something): Take the YO FORM, PRESENT TENSE of the verb Take off the ending (-o) Add AR = -es IR = -as ER = -as *Note: You also need to put “No” before each verb

Irregulars *Verbs that have irregular forms in the YO FORM PRESENT TENSE are irregular in the INFORMAL NEGATIVE COMMAND FORM: Poner = pongo = no pongas Tener = tengo = no tengas Venir = vengo = no vengas Salir = salgo = no salgas Hacer = hago = no hagas Decir = digo = no digas

14 Práctica Don’t wear the red shirt! ¡No lleves la camisa roja! Wear the blue shirt! ¡Lleva la camisa azul! Go to the store! ¡Ve al supermercado! Buy milk! ¡Compra leche!

15 Práctica Write your name on the paper. Clean your bedroom. Don´t sing.
Open the book. Don´t speak. Go to school. Eat the apple. Don´t use Twitter.

16 Stem Changing Verbs with Commands
Stem Changing Verbs in the Present Tense will also Stem Change in the Command Forms. Examples: Pensar = Piensa / No Pienses Pedir = Pide / No pidas Dormir = Duerme / No duermas

17 Reflexive Verbs with Commands
When using a reflexive verb in the command form： Negative: 　＝　ｐｌａｃｅ　ｔｈｅ　ｐｒｏｎｏｕｎ　ｂｅｆｏre　ｔｈｅ　ｃｏｍｍａｎｄ： No te bañes. Affirmative: = Attach the pronoun to the end of the verb Báñate
