1 Negative “tú” commands

2 Negative commands… …mean DON’T do something. Affirmative commands mean DO something. Don’t eat the candy! Don’t watch TV! Don’t get up!

3 Regular verb conjugation
-AR ( hablar) Hablo Hablamos Hablas Habláis Habla Hablan -ER (comer) Como Comemos Comes Coméis Come Comen -IR (Asistir) Asisto Asistimos Asistes Asistís Asiste Asisten

4 To make the negative command…
1. Conjugate it to the YO form hablar  hablo tener  tengo 2. Take off the ‘o’ at the end. hablo tengo 3. Add the OPPOSITE TÚ VERB ENDING. (AR  ER; ER/IR  AR) habl + ES = hables teng + AS = tengas 4. Add “no” in front of the verb ¡No hables! ¡No tengas!

5 Don’t speak English!  ¡No hables inglés!
Don’t sing!  ¡No cantes! Don’t be sleepy!  ¡No tengas sueño! Don’t do that!  ¡No hagas eso!

9 IRREGULARS!! Verbs that don’t end in ‘o’ in the YO form are irregular.
